Abstract:
To provide an electronic device with faster, more efficient methods and interfaces for executing biometric authentication.SOLUTION: In an electronic device having a display, a button, and one or more living body sensors independent of the button, a method includes: detecting one or more activations of the button while the electronic device is in a first state where each function of the electronic device is invalidated; capturing biological data by the one or more living body sensors independent of the button in response to detection of the one or more activations of the button, shifting the electronic device to a second state where each of the functions of the electronic device is validated according to determination that the biological data satisfies a biometric authentication reference; keeping the electronic device in the first state according to determination that the biological data does not satisfy a biometric authentication reference; and displaying notification of failure of the biometric authentication on a display.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1A
