To provide a method for easily impregnating an arbitrary part of the through-holes of a honeycomb structure with an aqueous medium, a method of manufacturing a honeycomb structure catalyst that applies a catalyst composition to the impregnated honeycomb structure by a wash coating method, and a honeycomb structure catalyst partially different in the amount of a catalyst component manufactured by the method.
After the honeycomb structure using a porous inorganic oxide as a substrate is introduced into an impregnation treatment apparatus, the aqueous medium is atomized to form misty particles and these misty particles are sucked from one opened end surface of the honeycomb structure held in the impregnation treatment apparatus along with the atmosphere while supplying the misty particles to the other opened end surface of the honeycomb structure and are guided into the through-holes of the honeycomb structure to thereby impregnate the through-holes with the aqueous medium.
