Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a more compact loom allowing high-speed weaving action.
CONSTITUTION: This improved loom is such one as to have a carrier 6 for at least one shuttle 5 or 5' and a stationary frame 1 accommodating reed wires or dents 7 disposed in a plane extending parallel to the direction of movement of the carrier 6 in order to guiding warps to positions to which wefts are to be introduced by the shuttle(s); wherein a freely rotatable toothed wheel 4 is mounted on the carrier 6 in front of the corresponding shuttle, at an angle to the reed plane and in engagement with the reed wires or dents 7 to form a shuttle shed; the toothed wheel 4 is mounted on the opposite side of reed plane with respect to the shuttle disposition, thereby affording a better space for shuttle disposition.
