Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing an acylated aromatic ether by using a catalyst of high activity and high space-time yield.
SOLUTION: This invention relates to an improved method of producing an acylated aromatic ether that is important as an intermediate for medicines and agents wherein the nano- or microcrystal zeolite β is used as a catalyst to carry out the reaction between an aromatic ether selected from anisol, veratrole and ethyl phenyl ether and an acylating agent selected from a 2-8C acid anhydride in the temperature range of 60-160°C for 2-24 hours and the resultant acylated aromatic ether is isolated through the conventional techniques.
