Abstract:
To provide an improved method for treatment, which method uses a high-affinity interleukin-5 antagonist, such as a neutralizing monoclonal antibody relating to human interleukin-5 (IL-5), that diminishes the differentiation and growth (namely, accumulation) of eosinophils and thereby alleviates eosinophilic inflammation.
The present invention relates to treatment and diagnosis of IL-5-mediated diseases and diseases mediated by excess eosinophil production, and more particularly to monoclonal antibodies and other altered antibodies such as Fab, chimeric, human, and humanized antibodies that do not block binding of human IL-5 to the alpha-chain of the human IL-5 receptor.
