To provide a method of processing food or feed mixture containing protein and starch.
The method includes a procedure for putting the mixture in a processing vessel 12 and passing through the vessel which has a pair of elongated, axially-rotating shafts 14 and 16. Each of the shafts has a plurality of outwardly- extending mixing members 50 and 52 of both shafts which are deviated in the axial direction and enter between chambers and the shafts rotate while the mixture passes through the vessel. In the processing procedure of the mixture, a speed difference of the rotation between the shafts is in a range from 3:1 to 18:1, the shafts rotate at respective different speeds, the food or the feed mixture is heated at a temperature of about 100-212°F in the vessel and at least about 50% cook is achieved by measuring a progress degree of starch gelatinization.
