Title:
IMPROVED PREPARATION OF CARBOXYLIC ACID ESTER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS55153741
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a carboxylic acid ester in high selectivity in one stage, by the reaction of an aldehyde with an alcohol in the presence of oxygen and a solid catalyst containing palladium and bismuth with the suppressed formation of different kinds of carboxylic aicd esters as by-products.

CONSTITUTION: An aldehyde is reacted with an alcohol in the presence of oxygen and a solid catalyst containing palladium and bismuth, preferably in an atomic ratio of 1:0.05W10 and in the form capable of interacting on each other to some extent in the reaction system, to give a carboxylic acid ester. In the reaction, the formation of different kinds of carboxylic acid esters out of different kind of aldenyde resulting from the oxidation of the alcohol itself, is suppressed, and the carboxylic acid ester can be obtained from the raw material aldehyde in a high selectivity.
