Abstract:
To provide hydrofluoroolefins that can be employed in a wide range of applications, including their use as refrigerants, solvents, foam expansion agents, cleaning agents, aerosol propellants, dielectrics, fire extinguishants, and power cycle working fluids.SOLUTION: A method of preparing a mixture of 3,3,3-trifluoropropene (HFO-1243zf) and 2-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene (HFO-1233xf) comprises reacting a mixture of 3-chloro-1,1,1-trifluoropropane (HCFC-253fb) and 1,1,1-trifluoro-2,3-dichloropropane (HFC-243db) with a base that is in an aqueous phase, in the absence of a phase transfer catalyst.SELECTED DRAWING: None
