Title:
IMPROVED THERMOFORMABLE PROPYLENE-BASED SHEET AND PREPARATION THEREOF
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3390230
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the titled sheet useful for automobiles, etc., having a good microwave processibility and impact resistance at low temperatures, by melt molding a specific polymer composition, rapidly cooling it under conditions for producing a β-spherulite and then thermoforming it.
CONSTITUTION: A sheet obtained by melt molding a crystalline resin polymer of a propylene having an α-spherulite and a polymer composition containing preferably from 0.1 to 10 ppm nucleating agent such as a compound of the formula or the like, which prepares a β-spherulite into a sheet, is rapidly cooled to a rapid-cooling temperature which is sufficient for producing a β-spherulite present at a K-value of from 0.3 to 0.95. This rapidly-cooled sheet is then heated to a thermoforming temperature which is high enough for thermoforming, and thermoformed to obtain the objective sheet containing at least one layer of a crystalline resin polymer of a propylene having a β-spherulite.
