Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a novel multi-purpose lubricant additive, especially the one improved in lubricant viscosity properties and dispersability and a lubricant having improved dispersion and viscosity properties and to provide a process for producing the multi-purpose additive.
SOLUTION: The improver composition comprises a product of the reaction of a mixture which comprises an oil-soluble ethylene/α-olefin copolymer (a) in which the α-olefin is selected among 3-28C α-olefins, which has an average mol.wt. of about 30,000-300,000, and onto which an ethylenic carboxylic acid or a functional derivative thereof has been grafted, at least one polyester (b-1) having at least one hydroxyl group capable of undergoing condensation, and at least one polyamine (b-2) having at least one primary or secondary amino group capable of undergoing condensation, and which optionally contains at least one hydrocarby-substituted carboxylic acid (anhydride) (c).
