PURPOSE: To improve desulfurization ratio without increase in alkali consumption, by cooling high-temp. exhaust combustion gas contg. SOX is a cooling tower with spray of aq. soln. of NaOH or Na2CO3, and by blowing a portion of the produced Na salt particles collected by a dust collector into the exhaust gas at the inlet of the cooling tower.
CONSTITUTION: Exhaust gas from a glass-melting furnace 1 is fed to the lower part of a cooling tower 3, and an aq. soln 4 obtained by dissolving a prescribed amount of NaOH or Na2CO37 in water 6 is sprayed into the cooling tower 3 at the upper part. Hereby the exhaust gas is cooled from 400W700°C to 200W350°C, and simultaneously particles 1W40μ in diameter consisting principally of Na2CO3 together with Na2SO3 and Na2SO4 is formed. The particles are sent accompanied by the exhaust gas to a reaction chamber 12 equipped with lamellar packings 13, where the particles collide with the packings so as to be divided finally to 0.5W1.0μ, so that unreacted inner portion of the particles are exposed with further proceeding of the desulfurization. A portion of the solid collected by a dust collector 14 is either blown into the exhaust gas at the inlet of the cooling tower 3 through a dust reservoir 17, of fed to a strage tank 8, where it is dissolved and sprayed in the form of a soln. Hereby the desulfurization ratio is improved by 5W10%.
