Abstract:
To provide an impurity removal method that can efficiently remove impurities, which are mixed in aluminum or aluminum alloy and difficult to remove, from molten metal.SOLUTION: The inventive impurity removal method includes the steps of: mixing Mg or Mg alloy with molten metal containing aluminum or aluminum alloy and impurities; and stirring the molten metal after the mixing step. In the stirring step, giving the molten metal a temperature gradient causes an intermetallic compound to be separated from the molten metal.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
