Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide stable stratified combustion by positioning mixture near an ignition plug at an optimum ignition time regardless of high or low speed of an engine. SOLUTION: This invention is related to a cylinder direct injection type engine wherein fuel is directly injected by a fuel injection valve 18 in the combustion chamber dividedly formed between the top face of the piston fittedly inserted in a cylinder 11 and a cylinder head 13 to which an ignition plug 14 is attached. The injection valve 18 injects fuel in the direction inclined to its center axis T and is rotatably mounted on the cylinder head 13. The gear 26 rotated integrally with the injection valve 18 is meshed with a rack 27. The injection valve is rotated by the slide motion of the rack 27 meshed with the gear 26 by a control means according to engine speed for changing fuel injection direction.
