Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently perform catalyst activation in a cylinder direct injection type spark ignition engine. SOLUTION: This cylinder direct injection type spark ignition engine equips with a two-time injection mode control means where control is so executed that main fuel is injected from an injector 5 at the stroke of suction or compression at the time of catalytic warming-up when the catalytic temperature of Tcat is lower than a prescribed value Tcat TH, with additional fuel injection at the stroke of the following process of expansion or exhaust, and with a one-time injection mode control means having an exhaust port temperature sensor 16 for detecting the exhaust system temperature Tport at the upstream side of a catalytic converter 22, where control is so executed that fuel is injected from the injector 5 at the process of suction or compression at the time of after-burning incapacity when exhaust system temperature Tport is lower than the prescribed value Tport TH at the time of catalytic warming-up, and concurrently, the injection of additional fuel is suspended at the following process of expansion or exhaust.
