To provide a control device of a cylinder injection internal combustion engine for maintaining a superior combustion state regardless of a change in cylinder air current strength caused by a change with the lapse of time of deposition of an intake air deposit.
An electronic control device 20 estimates a change in the tumble ratio by a change with the lapse of time of the deposition of the intake air deposit on the basis of a change in the combustion gas temperature detected by an exhaust temperature sensor 21, and delayably corrects the fuel injection timing in stratified combustion operation when the estimated tumble ratio increases. Thus, fuel is injected in the sufficiently weakened timing of a residual air current regardless of a change in the residual air current in a compression stroke caused by an increase in the tumble ratio, and since excessive agitation of the fuel caused by an increase in the tumble ratio is restrained, a layer of a variable thick air-fuel mixture can be stably formed in the vicinity of a spark plug 17.
