To realize excellent ignitability by forming thick fuel spray by an injection pattern having thickness and thinness, then previously preventing direct transfer of the formed thick fuel spray to an ignition plug, and surely transferring the fuel spray to the vicinity of the ignition plug along a predetermined path.
The fuel pattern of a fuel injection valve 9 is set so as to form the thick fuel spray 10 having an approximately truncated chevron shape in section to the ignition plug 6 side with respect to an ignition axis l to transfer the thick fuel spray 10 to the ignition plug 6 through the path along an inverted tumble flow. The ignition plug 6 is arranged on a moving locus of a separation part 10a formed in a center of the approximately truncated chevron shape, to thereby prevent exposure of the ignition plug 6 to the directly transferred thick fuel spray 10.
