To form an air-fuel mixture layer excellent in ignitability around an ignition plug to stabilize combustion, in a cylinder injection internal combustion engine.
A fuel injection valve 26 is arranged so as to directly inject fuel into a combustion chamber. The fuel injection valve 26 is provided with a plurality of injection holes 34. The ignition plug 28 is disposed to ignite a roll up region outside a boundary of a spray of the fuel jetted from the injection holes. Fuel injection holes 34a, 34b, 34c are formed in parallel in a radial direction so as to inject the fuel in the ignition plug 28. The fuel injection holes 34a, 34b, 34c are constituted, so that a velocity component of the fuel flowing toward the ignition plug 28 gets lower, as the position of the injection hole becomes away from the center.
