Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the purifying efficiency, while surely restricting the discharge of the hydrocarbon, without having to separately provide a device for raising temperature of the catalyst and without changing a control system for an engine in a control device for cylinder injection type internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: An HC-adsorbing catalyst 39 and a three-way catalyst 40 are provided in an exhaust pipe 36 of an engine 10. At cold start of the engine, a compression stroke injection and an expansion stroke are carried out so as to raise the temperature of the exhaust gas, and temperature of the three-way catalyst 40 is raised for early activation. The HC-adsorbing catalyst 39 surely purifies and disposes of adsorbed HC.
