To provide a gram staining method, a microorganism test method, and an apparatus applicable even when a microorganism concentration is low and capable of recovering microorganisms after carrying out gram staining to allow the execution of an identification and drug sensitivity examination in a post-process.
A gram staining method for microorganisms includes the steps of: treating microorganisms in a series of gram staining solutions by repeating (a) concentration or capture of microorganisms, (b) solvent substitution, and (c) suspension of microorganisms, in a container containing a solution that contains or is suspected to contain microorganisms; and determining gram positive bacteria or gram negative bacteria from the stained condition of microorganisms. Gram staining is performed in a state of holding the form of microorganisms, and microorganism recovery after determination is simplified to permit the execution of an identification and drug sensitivity examination of microorganisms using the gram-stained microorganisms.
