Title:
IN-SITU SIMPLE BOX SHEAR TESTING METHOD
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH11323892
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To improve measuring accuracy and make this testing method adaptable for earth-moving works at site by placing a vertical loading body on a shear frame embedded in the ground located in situ and horizontally pulling the shear frame to measure the shear strength of the ground.

A wire rope 36 connected to a shear frame (a) is connected to a center hole jack 31 of a puller (e) and a hydraulic pump 32 is manually operated to pull the shear frame (a) by the center hole jack 31 and load a shearing force. A jig 38 for reactive force is attached to a bulldozer or the like and a wire rope 41 for the reactive force is wound thereon. A shear force is measured by a load cell 34 built in the puller (e). A horizontal displacement meter (f), vertical displacement meters (g), (h) are fitted to a weight (d) to measure displacement of the shear frame (a). The shearing strength is obtained from the measured result. Accordingly, the accuracy is improved and the testing method can be adapted for earth-moving work site such as embankments regardless of particle size and further, it can be costlessly executed.
