To provide an inter-vehicle communication technology capable of securing necessary communication between vehicles with speed difference and reducing the amount of communication.
Each vehicle (on-vehicle radio communication apparatus) which constitutes an inter-vehicle communication system periodically transmits vehicle information regarding a self-vehicle, and the transmission interval is set according to the vehicle speed of the self-vehicle. The transmission interval is set longer, the lower the speed of the self-vehicle is. Here, when information is received from other vehicle faster than the self-vehicle, a response is immediately returned, regardless of the transmission timing set according to the speed of the self-vehicle; and the transmission interval is set to a value according to speed of a partner vehicle. It is preferable that the control be actuated, when the other-party vehicle is endangering own vehicle, such as in a situation where a rear-end collision may be imminent. In addition, when a plurality of vehicles which perform the processing, including the self-vehicle exist, it is preferable that the probability of performing the processing be decided, according to the number of vehicles.
