Abstract:

The present invention provides an in-wheel motor drive device that does not have a complicated structure surrounding a wheel hub bearing and is advantageous in terms of ease of assembly and in terms of cost. This in-wheel motor drive device (10) is equipped with: a wheel hub bearing (11) provided with an outer ring (12) that integrally rotates with the vehicle wheel, an inner fixed member (13) that is disposed in the inner circumference of the outer ring (12), and a plurality of rolling elements (14) that are disposed in the annular gap between the outer ring (12) and the inner fixed member (13); a motor (21) for driving the outer ring (12); and a speed reduction part (31) for slowing the rotation of the motor (21) and transmitting the rotation to the outer ring (12). The speed reduction part (31) is a parallel shaft reducer and includes an output gear (36), an input gear (32) that connects to the motor rotation shaft (22) of the motor (21), and at least one intermediate gear (33, 35) that transmits rotation from the input gear (32) to the output gear (36). At least one intermediate gear (33, 35) is disposed further on the outer diameter side than the outer ring (12) and so as to overlap the axial (O) direction position of the outer ring (12).
