PURPOSE: To reduce the cost of installation and save energy by a method wherein the malodorous hot exhaust gas from a fluidized bed drying furnace is fed into a plenum chamber of a fluidized bed incinerator so as to heat and fluidize sand grains.
CONSTITUTION: Highly moist industrial wastes such as waste-water treatment sludge are fed into a fluidized bed drying furnace 2 by a screw feeder 13, and heated to dry uniformly. The stinking hot exhast gas generated from the drying furnace 2 is fed through a pipe 5 into the plenum chamber of an incinerator 1, where it is heated to a higher temperature by a burner 8 and the sticking components contained in it are incinerated and removed. On the other hand, the dried industrial wastes are fed through a pipe 7 into the incinerator 1, where they are burnt upon contacting the heated sand grains being fluidized. The hot exhaust gas in the incinerator 1 is fed through a pipe 3 into a finned heat-transmitting tube 4 in the drying furnace 2, cooled by heat exchange, and discharged to the atmosphere from a pipe 14 connected with the exhaust port of the tube 4.
