PURPOSE: To prevent the wear, damage, etc., of a guide shoe by moving the guide shoe in the progressing direction of a rolling stock and by returning it to the original position from the moving end at the rolling completion time while under rolling.

CONSTITUTION: A pair of rolling rolls 11 are arranged slantwise and a pair of guide shoes 12 are provided at both sides of the rolling zone thereof. The shoe 12 is supported to a supporting base 17 by the shoe presser 16 which opens and closes via a clamp cylinder device 15. Moreover, the shoe moving device 21 having the shift rod 20 being combined with the shoe supporting base 17 is provided and a control device 22 controls the motion of the shift rod 20. With this mechanism the shoe 12 under rolling of a blank pipe 14 is moved in the progressing direction of the blank pipe 14 and returned to the original point after completion of rolling. Due to the rolling load and thermal load being dispersed to the whole body of the shoe 12, the wear, breakdown and temp. rise of the guide shoe 12 can be prevented.
