To provide an incremental stretch forming method and an apparatus thereof, allowing a formation limit to be improved without causing tensile force around deformation in a working object plate material.
The incremental stretch forming method is provided for gradually stretch-deforming a working object plate material by moving a forming tool according to contour line working data while pressing the forming tool to the working object plate material. In the incremental stretch forming method, a stretch deformation area in the working object plate material is moved to a position sunk inside an elastic body base by pushing the working object plate material installed above the elastic body base in working into the elastic body base using the forming tool and the working object plate material is worked. The incremental stretch forming apparatus includes a base, the elastic body base stored in the base, fixing means for fixing the working object plate material installed above the elastic body base to the base and control means for relatively moving the forming tool with respect to the working object plate material by numerical control.
