In this independent test device 1 in an unhulled rice drying preparation facility, an unhulled rice sample is collected from one portion of a collected unhulled rice to sort the good unpolished rice and an unripe grain, and weights of the unhulled rice sample and the good unpolished rice are measured to calculate a yield of the good unpolished rice. In the test device 1, the sorting of the good unpolished rice from the unripe grain is carried out by an optical determination device 8 having a conveying part 16 for conveying a unpolished rice a grain by a grain, a photoreceiving part 17 for irradiating the unpolished rice conveyed by the conveying part 16 with light to receive the light acquired from the unpolished rice, a determination part 12 for finding a grain thickness based on a photoreception data from the photoreceiving part 17 and for comparing a thickness data found therein with a preset threshold value to determine the good unpolished rice and the unripe grain, and a selection part for sorting the unpolished rice into the good unpolished rice and the unripe grain, based on a determination data from the determination part 12.
