To provide an independent wheel suspension capable of enhancing the steering stability and the riding quality even in a structure in which a lateral link is omitted, and an axle member and a vehicle body are connected to each other via a shock absorber and a leaf spring.
A front end of a leaf spring 3 is connected to a vehicle body, a rear end is connected to an axle member 1, and a shock absorber 2 is of a type in which a rod 6 is protruded from both ends of a cylinder 5. An upper end of the rod 6 is connected to the vehicle body, and a lower end of the rod 6 is connected to the vehicle body movably in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle and in the vehicle width direction. The cylinder 5 is connected to the axle member 1 backward of the vehicle from the connection position C1 of the leaf spring 3 to the axle member 1. A restraint means 8 is provided, which restrain the locus of the lower end of the rod 6 so that the lower end of the rod 6 is moved outwardly in the vehicle width direction when moving backward of the vehicle from the normal position.
