PURPOSE: To provide a new indolylcycloalkanylamine useful for the alleviation and treatment of vascular headaches or vascular-related headaches including migraine and cluster headache.
CONSTITUTION: There is provided a compound represented by formula I [wherein Ar is formula II (wherein R5 is H), III or IV; R1 is COR2, CONHR3, CO2R4, OH, NR2COR4, NR2, SO2R3, SO2R4 or SO2NHR3 (wherein R3 is H, an alkyl or phenylalkylene; R4 is an alkyl; and R5 is H); R2 is H or an alkyl; m is 0 or 1; n is 1-3; and p is 0-4] or a pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salt thereof, e.g. 3-[4-[N-(2-phenylethyl)amino]cyclohexen-1-yl]-1H-indol-5- acetamide. The compound of formula I, e.g. a compound represented by formula; V-IA, is obtained by condensing a cycloalkanone intermediate represented by formula V-II with an indole compound represented by formula V-III to give a cycloalkyenyl product represented by formula V-IB followed by reduction thereof.
