Abstract:
To provide an induction hardening method of a cam shaft.
In the induction hardening method of a cam shaft 1 having a cam lobe 4a to open and close an engine valve, a predetermined area 5c of the axial end face 5a of the cam lobe 4a is held from both sides by blocks 6, 7, a high frequency coil 9 to heat the cam lobe while the cam lobe is held by the blocks is installed, and the cam lobe is quenched with a cooling liquid after energization to the high frequency coil for a predetermined time.
