PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an induction hardening steel for obtaining an induction hardened steel immune to foreign-matter environment, hardly causing deterioration in fatigue life even if inclusion of foreign matter is brought about under the environment containing foreign matter such as dust and chip, an induction hardened steel immune to foreign-matter environment, and further a rectilinear motion device produced by using such an induction hardened steel immune to foreign-matter environment.
SOLUTION: The induction hardening steel has a composition at least containing, by weight, 0.60-0.90% carbon, 0.50-1.70% manganese, 0.20-1.20% chromium, and ≤1.00% silicon and also has ≤250°C Ms point. By subjecting this steel to induction hardening, the induction hardened steel immune to foreign-matter environment, hardly causing deterioration in fatigue life even under a foreign-matter-containing environment, containing 20 to 40 vol.% retained austenite. and having ≥61 HRC hardness, can be obtained. The rectilinear motion device, produced by using this induction hardened steel immune to foreign-matter environment, has high hardness and high toughness and can be used with long service life even under a foreign-matter environment.
