Abstract:
To provide an induction motor and a railway vehicle which has high efficiency and supports high-speed rotation.SOLUTION: An induction motor 1 of the present invention comprises: a shaft 8; a rotator 3 that rotates with the shaft 8; and a stator 2 that is arranged opposite the rotator 3 at an air gap therebetween. The rotator 3 includes: a rotary iron core 7 holding the shaft 8 in a rotatable manner; a plurality of slots 6 provided on the rotational iron core 7; conductive rods 13 provided in the slots 6; a pair of short-circuit circles 14 that are fixed to both axial ends of each conductive rod 13 for short-circuiting the plurality of conductive rods 13; and an annular member 12 that fixes the pair of short-circuit rings 14 from outside. The conductive rods 13 and the short-circuit rings 14 are formed of die castings of aluminum or copper. The annular member 12 has a leading tension at 20°C of 260 N/mm2 or more and a conductive ratio of 70IACS% or more.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
