To provide an induction motor in which mechanical strength of a rotor is ensured by preventing withdrawal of a secondary conductor from a rotor slow, while ensuring the characteristics of the induction motor, by combination of open slots and closed slots.
An open slot 35a is disposed in a region A of a rotor core 11a facing a stator core 15. Magnetic flux from the stator core 15 can return back to the stator core 15 while rounding the open slot 35a effectively, and excellent operation characteristics can be obtained in an induction motor. Furthermore, a closed slot 36a is disposed in a region B on the outside of the stator core 15, and since the outer diameter side of the closed slot 36a is closed, withdrawal of a secondary conductor 13 due to centrifugal force can be prevented.
