To provide an inductor for forming an electromagnetic expanded tube, which has satisfactory cooling properties, excellent strength, and a high level of durability.
This inductor for the electromagnetic expanded tube is inserted into a tubular work from a front end side thereof and expands the work by electromagnetic force. The inductor comprises a conductor 1 wound in a coil form around the outer peripheral face of a shaft 10 and a coolant passage provided at a position between the conductors 1 or at a position between the conductor 1 and the shaft 10 as viewed in a cross section including the central axis of the shaft 10, for allowing the coolant to flow therethrough. The coolant passage is, for example, a coolant tube formed of a metal or an alloy and wound in a coil form by a noninductive winding manner around the outer peripheral face of the shaft 10.
