To facilitate manufacture of an inductor suitably employed in an axial gap type motor and to reduce eddy current generated when an AC magnetic field acts on the inductor.
The inductor having one end face arranged oppositely to an armature coil and the other end face arranged oppositely to a field body is formed by bundling a plurality of linear magnetic bodies 40. One end face of these linear magnetic bodies 40 in the longitudinal direction opposes the armature coil and the other end face opposes the field body. Cross-sectional areas of these linear magnetic bodies 40 are same in the direction perpendicular to the direction of flux being the longitudinal direction, and the profile of cross-section in the perpendicular direction is different between one end face and the other end face.
