PURPOSE: To provide the light guide plate for liquid crystal display which is a reflection type light guide plate of a liquid crystal display, etc., and eliminates need for a conventional reflecting plate, increases the luminance of transmitted light, and displays the uniform luminance by the transmitted light over the entire plate surface.

CONSTITUTION: One surface of the light guide plate 1 is sectioned into plural rectangles and a transmission curved surface 2 is formed in each section 1a, the width of transmission curved surfaces 2 in the direction of light from a light source 3 gradually increased in accordance with the distance from the light source 3, and boundary lines 4b, 4b... between the respective transmission curved surfaces 2 and 2 in the direction perpendicalar to the incidence direction 3a of light from the light source 3 are formed at positions floating by certain distances above a virtual reference surface 5 matched with the border lines 4a, 4a... between the respective curved surfaces 2 and 2. Further, the formation surface of the transmission curved surfaces 2 is made to be either a flat surface or a slanting surface in which its distance from a bottom surface 6 is decreased as one moves away from the light source 3, and a sand blast processing may be applied to the top surfaces of the transmission curved surfaces 2.
