The industrial endoscope is provided with a sensor SE for detecting the displacement amount of the distal end part 3a of the endoscope probe 3, and a control unit CU for obtaining at least either the position or the attitude of the distal end part 3a of the endoscope probe 3 on the basis of the detection value of the sensor SE. When the distal end part 3a of the endoscope probe 3 is inserted into the object to be observed, a video picked up by the imaging means of the endoscope probe 3 is displayed on an LCD 8, and the position and the attitude of the edge part 3a of the endoscope probe 3 is decided on the basis of the detection value of the sensor SE.
