To provide an inert device capable of making a vertical roller mill inert if the vertical roller mill is emergently stopped or even if a system including the vertical roller mill is abnormally stopped and capable of making the vertical roller mill inert without raising the inner pressure of the vertical roller mill.
The inert device of vertical roller mill of the vertical roller mill has: seal air supplying means 12, 14 for supplying sealing air to a seal part of the vertical roller mill 1; inert gas supplying means 15, 16 for supplying inert gas as inert gas to the seal part; and seal-air-and-inert-gas switching means 13, 20 for switching the seal air supplying means and the inert gas supplying means, the seal-air-and-inert-gas switching means supplies seal air to the seal part when the vertical roller mill is in operation and supplies the inert gas to the seal part and makes the inside of the vertical roller mill inert when the vertical roller mill is emergently stopped.
