Abstract:

To provide an inflammatory intestinal disease-preventing agent which contains a food-originated ingredient and is useful for safely and effectively preventing inflammatory intestinal diseases represented by ulcerative colitis.

Various experiments related to a plant-originated proanthocyanidin have been carried out, and researches have zealously been tried from biochemical and medical viewpoints. Consequently, it has been found that the vegetable proanthocyanidin is useful as an agent for preventing the inflammatory intestinal diseases represented by the ulcerative colitis. The present invention relates to the inflammatory intestinal disease-preventing agent, characterized by containing the plant-originated proanthocyanidin as an active ingredient.
