To simply set an electronic dictionary device so that additionally installed dictionary data will be used with same usability as the case wherein dictionary search is performed simply, based on dictionary data included in a main body thereof.
Each piece of additional dictionary data which is stored in an additional dictionary (library) data memory by installing, for instance, from a CD-ROM is displayed as a list on a dictionary selection library screen G3 by the operation of a "library key". If a desired additional dictionary title (for instance, [2] contemporary term dictionary) for which a key position should be set is selectively designated with a cursor K to operate a "setting key 17q", and a desired key (for instance, shift 17s+ "Readers (content 1) 17a2") which should be a start key for the designated additional dictionary "contemporary term dictionary" is operated, as a starting dictionary corresponding to the dictionary designation key (Re*ders (content 1)) 17a2 in a dictionary key (after shift) location table, a key location for the designated additional dictionary "contemporary term dictionary" is set.
