To make a user more effectively memorize meanings of words etc., in language learning performed by reading sentences.SOLUTION: An electronic dictionary 1 comprises a display 11 and a CPU 40. The CPU 40 displays sentences of a literary work on the display 11 on the basis of user operation; registers a designated word as an object word Ws, when the word is designated by the user operation from among the plurality of words included in the displayed sentences; selects the word other than the object word Ws from among the sentences to register the word as a related word; retrieves or generates an idiom or an example which is the sentence including both of the object word Ws and the related word; and displays the meaning of the object word Ws at least corresponding to the idiom or the example on the display 11.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
