PURPOSE: To provide an information display method and apparatus to a display device which allows the displaying of information selectively to a plurality of information areas where a display position is fixed and a meter for bicycles using the same.

CONSTITUTION: Information is switched to be displayed on first to third information display areas 15a-15c in a display device of a meter for a bicycle based on the setting of a display mode of a rotary switch. For example, speed, time and distance are displayed in a basic mode BSC, cadence, speed and distance in a training mode EXC, residual distance, speed and cadence in a race mode RCE, the maximum speed, integrated range and the maximum cadence in a MAX mode MAX, speed, average speed and average cadence in an AVE mode AVE and time, stop watch counted time in a clock mode CLK separately. This enables the displaying of information desired to learn in the most visible area with a simple operation.
