To provide a device for embedding information in a sound signal and a device for extracting information from the sound signal such that when the information is embedded by using a plurality of low-frequency components in a low-frequency range, extraction precision on an extraction side can be improved.
The sound signal is sectioned in a predetermined section, and states of the low-frequency components are changed according to a bit pattern to be embedded. In each low-frequency band, multiplication by a window function F which varies with a value in a frequency direction is performed so that a value nearby the center of the frequency range thereof becomes large. Consequently, when the pattern is extracted by using an L signal, it becomes easy to judge the intensity of a signal component of each low-frequency band and the precision of extraction of the pattern on the extraction side increases.
