To reduce data quantity and to efficiently and also accurately select dictionary data corresponding to handwriting information by performing operation comparison of handwriting information data with the similarity of entire or partial dictionary data which are represented with a fuzzy set and previously stored and outputting the code address of a character and/or graphic corresponding to the handwriting information data.
A liquid crystal tablet 13 is connected to a handwriting information recognizing part 18 through a controlling part 16. Data of a handwriting character which are one example of handwriting information that is outputted from the tablet 13 are processed by the part 18, and reference character data and/or reference graphic data which have maximum similarity are selected among reference character data and/or reference graphic data (dictionary data) which are previously inputted and become a candidate. A data transferring part 21 transfers code addresses outputted from memory 19 and 20, data content corresponding to it, a code signal and a key code signal to a computer body.
