This is an information inputting device in which a touch panel 5 is provided on the screen of a liquid crystal display device 6, and a character is fingerwritten and inputted from the touch panel 5. When a user fingerwrites a character and inputs in a character inputting area E1, only a first candidate character which is the recognized result of the inputted character is displayed in a recognized result display area E2. When this displayed first candidate character is not an expected character, a simultaneously displayed correction button K3 is pressed by a user, and a second candidate character button K5 for displaying a second candidate character and a third candidate character button K6 for displaying a third character are displayed so that the next candidate character can be selected.
