To provide an information providing device and its control method, and a computer-readable memory which can easily recognize switching between genres when pieces of information in the different kinds of genres are successively presented.

Pieces of information are held by different kinds of genres by using a text data holding part 303 and a character information holding part 311 and animation images are held corresponding to the different kinds of genres. A synthesized voice based upon information on a specified genre and an animation genre are presented by using a character display part 309 and a voice output part 307. Then a user's voice indication is inputted by a voice input part 301 and information showing switching between genres is presented by the character display part 309 and voice output part 307 by using animation images corresponding to the genres before and after the genre switching according to the inputted user's voice indication.
