Abstract:
To provide a digital content with the optimum quality while protecting the copyright of the digital content.
An HDCP control unit 60 determines whether a monitor to be connected via a DVII/F61 is a monitor compatible with HDCP, and a result of determination is reported to a microcomputer (MC) 53. If the monitor to be connected is not the monitor compatible with the HDCP, the MC 53 sets a converter 57 at an ON state. When data received via a tuner 54 or acquired via an iLINKI/F55 and to be supplied from a switch 56 are the data of an HD image, the converter 57 converts the data into data of and SD image. This apparatus is applicable to a digital tuner.
