To provide an information processing apparatus that avoids malfunction when reducing power consumption in a standby state, even if receiving an external supply of power from an AC adapter or the like.
The information processing apparatus includes: a power supply control part that controls power supply; a delay part that delays a starting factor signal that causes starting of the power supply control part for a prescribed time period; a detection signal generation part that generates, upon detecting that an external power supply is connected in an operation standby state for suppressing power consumption and standing by operation, a detection signal exactly for a fixed time period in response to the detection; and a power supply part that supplies power to the power supply control part based on the starting factor signal output by the delay part or the detection signal generated by the detection signal generation part and stops power supply to the power supply control part after a fixed time period has lapsed after connection in the operation standby state, wherein the power supply control part outputs a signal to shorten the delay time of the delay part, when power is supplied from the power supply part in the operation standby state.
