Compression-coded moving image data are transferred from a CPU 101 to a GPU 105 at a predetermined frame rate. Graphics data (still picture, character/graphic, superimposed characters and the like) are plotted on a main memory 103, on the other hand and when updating the graphics data, only an updated portion thereof is transferred to a VRAM 105A of the GPU 105. Therefore, the amount of data to be transferred from the CPU 101 to the GPU 105 can be remarkably reduced, and composition processing of composing moving image data and graphics images for each frame to produce a display signal to be displayed on a display device can be performed in real time.
