Abstract:

To facilitate the installation work of a driver program, which is adapted to a peripheral device connected to a network, to an information processing device.

In the installation of a driver for using a printer connected to the network to the information processing device, a printer determined to be adapted to the driver are extracted by using the presence and absence of a response to predetermined query information broadcasted to the network and an acquired MAC address. The extracted printer is presented in a printer list 701, for example, to a user, and the user selects the desired printer. If no IP address on the network is allocated to the selected printer, an IP address is set to the printer, and the driver is installed to the IP address of the selected printer.
