To offer more suitable information according to circumstances of a user.

A terminal device 11-1 detects a location of the user A carrying the terminal device 11-1 and a person around the user A to acquire circumstances of the user A and reports them to an information providing server 12. The information providing server 12 accumulates a plurality of pieces of information available to the user and manages a profile representing taste of the user for each user. In receipt of notification about the circumstances of the user A from the terminal device 11-1, the information providing server 12 selects information to be offered to the user A on the basis of the circumstance and the profile of the user A and transmits the information to the terminal device 11-1 to display it. The information providing server 12 updates the profile according to the degree of interest of the user A to the offered information. This invention is applicable to a mobile terminal device.
